Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero is an American singer-actress and former model. Her most well-known work is her part in Prince's 1984 film Purple Rain as well as being the lead vocalist of Apollonia 6, a girl group. The actor and singer who was christened Apollonia by Prince and became one of a number of female artists in the '80s that benefited from her connection with Prince, the Purple One. The actress was born Patricia Kotero in Santa Monica California in 1959, her work began as a model actress by the end of the '70s with a role on the television show CHiPS. In 1984, she was cast as the title of female lead in Prince's Purple Rain (during which time the singer changed her name) as well as replacing Vanity as a member of the female group Vanity 6 singing with them in the movie with the title Apollonia 6. She made more of an influence on the charts by being Prince's partner in Take Me with You, a duet from the soundtrack. Kotero was able to break up with Prince when they fell out about the fate of Apollonia 6. She appeared in several minor movies during this period and was reportedly not allowed to appear in the Purple Rain sequel Under the Cherry Moon. From 1985 to 1986 she landed a part on the evening drama Falcon Crest. Apollonia was finally able to release her debut in 1988 but the comparatively insignificant collection of R&B/dance songs failed to be a hit with those who bought music, and it soon disappeared off the shelves. Throughout the decade that followed her career was a full-time actress, playing minor roles in films and a few TV series. Apollonia made a record in English and Spanish named Stay With Me in 1997. Later, she returned to the college where she earned the degree of filmmaker. Then, she started her own production company. Apollonia holds a number of jobs. She has worked as a model, singer-actress and the talent manager. Purple Rain, the 1984 film that she was in, was her most well-known role. In addition, she has been featured in several other movies and TV shows such as Black Magic Woman and The Divorce Ceremony. Kotero debuted her career as a model. Kotero was a participant in a variety of contests and pageants. Kotero took first place at her first contest, the Miss San Pedro Beauty Pageant. The American actress is famous for her appearance in music videos featuring stars like Ray Parker Jr. Kotero is a business entrepreneur also and is the founder of Kotero Entertainment a multimedia entertainment company.
