Patricia Apollonia Kotero is an American singer-actress and former model. Her most well-known work is her part in Prince's 1984 film Purple Rain as well as being the lead vocalist of Apollonia 6, a girl group. The actor and singer who was christened Apollonia by Prince and became one of a number of female artists in the '80s that benefited from her connection with Prince, the Purple One. The actress was born Patricia Kotero in Santa Monica California in 1959, her work began as a model actress by the end of the '70s with a role on the television show CHiPS. In 1984, she was cast as the title of female lead in Prince's Purple Rain (during which time the singer changed her name) as well as replacing Vanity as a member of the female group Vanity 6 singing with them in the movie with the title Apollonia 6. The birthplace of the Barba family was Santa Monica California, the United States of America on the 26th of November, 1986. Her father Vincenzo Barba is her mother Valerie Barba. The family relocated from Point Pleasant in New Jersey, at six. Her secondary schooling in New Jersey at Red Bank Catholic High School. After that, she went to Catholic University and graduated with an undergraduate degree in architecture. At the age of four, she began to play the violin. She earned the name Violin Girl.
